As part of its corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at youth empowerment, ABUMET Nigeria Ltd, the full-service aluminium and glass solutions provider under Julius Berger, recently held its first Graffiti Art Competition in Abuja.
This creative platform invited university students to express themselves artistically while weaving in core elements of ABUMET’s identity, such as aluminium profiles, façades, and the spirit of skilled craftsmanship.
Held over two days, the competition saw students transform plain shipping containers into vibrant, imaginative artworks that demonstrated both technical skill and originality. Each piece was evaluated by seasoned local artists, who judged based on creativity, relevance to the theme, execution, and overall impact.
At the close of the event, Johaness emerged the overall winner, receiving a grand prize of N1,000,000. Zaphaniel and Boluwatife followed in second and third places, earning N500,000 and N300,000 respectively. All other participants were also recognised with consolation prizes, celebrating their effort, creativity, and contribution to the event’s success.
Speaking at the award presentation, ABUMET’s General Manager, Diemo Schillack, affirmed the company’s ongoing commitment to nurturing young talent and driving innovation through purposeful initiatives. He described the competition as a deliberate step in supporting the next generation of leaders and creatives, and encouraged the continuation of such programmes to sustain their positive impact.
Participants expressed gratitude to ABUMET for the opportunity to showcase their talent, sharing their enthusiasm for future editions of the competition.
