
The Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Area Command, Comptroller Gambo Aliyu, on Sunday, December 7, 2025, paid a familiarisation and courtesy visit to the Palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, where he reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to strengthening stakeholder engagement across communities within the region.
Welcomed by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rasheed Ladoja, Aliyu expressed deep appreciation for the longstanding cooperation and warm hospitality consistently extended to the Command by the Palace and the people of Ibadan. He noted that the visit symbolised the Service’s respect for traditional authority and its recognition of the critical role traditional institutions play in fostering peace, security, and economic growth.

The Comptroller reiterated the Nigeria Customs Service’s unwavering dedication to its statutory responsibilities of revenue generation, trade facilitation, and robust anti-smuggling operations. Describing Ibadan as a key commercial centre, he emphasised that both economic opportunities and national security challenges converge in the region, making community collaboration essential to the Service’s success.
He stressed that traditional rulers remain indispensable partners in sustaining order and mobilising community support. “The Nigeria Customs Service recognises the vital role of traditional leadership in promoting peace and cooperation. With Your Majesty’s continued guidance, our Command will remain effective in safeguarding Nigeria’s economic interests,” he said.

Aliyu urged the Olubadan to continue sensitising youths, traders, and community leaders on the dangers of smuggling and other economic crimes that threaten national development. He assured the monarch that officers and men of the Command would continue to uphold professionalism, respect cultural values, and maintain positive relations with host communities.
Acknowledging the already strong synergy between the Command and the Palace, the CAC commended the Olubadan for his unwavering support, noting that the collaboration has significantly contributed to operational successes across the region. In his response, Oba Ladoja welcomed the visit and encouraged the Service to maintain diligent border management and protect the nation from economic saboteurs.

The visit concluded with Comptroller Aliyu seeking the monarch’s blessings for wisdom, protection, and strength as the Command continues to work tirelessly toward national security and economic advancement.
