In a powerful address at the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) Women Commission event in Lagos, President of the International Federation of Aeronautical Information Management Associations (IFAIMA), Olufunmilayo Adeyemi, urged women in aviation to invest in themselves as a pathway to personal growth and professional success.

Speaking on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2026, themed “Give to Gain”, Adeyemi highlighted the vital role of women in the aviation sector, praising their sacrifices for family, society, and the workforce.

“This year’s theme speaks to the heart of what makes our community strong”, she said. “When we share our knowledge, support one another, and open doors for those following us, we don’t lose anything — we grow. We gain stronger teams, safer skies, and a more inclusive industry where everyone can thrive”.

Adeyemi, who is both the first woman and first Black person to hold the position of IFAIMA President, emphasised the importance of self-investment. “Women, it is time to invest in yourself — your time, your money, your effort. Invest in knowing yourself, in the dreams you’ve set aside, in what brings you joy, in rest, in vacations, in coaching or professional courses. This is how we truly give, and this is how we gain”, she said.

She also lauded NAAPE for incorporating sessions on personal development and emotional intelligence into the conference, calling them “timely and empowering for women in this season”.

Adeyemi concluded by urging collective support and allyship across genders. “To the women of NAAPE and other professions represented here: your courage inspires the next generation. To the men who stand with us: your allyship strengthens our collective progress. Let us continue lifting one another, because when we rise together, we rise higher”.

She wished all participants a Happy International Women’s Day, closing with the resonant message: “Together, we give. Together, we gain”.
