Industry leaders are set to celebrate Motoring World, one of Nigeria’s foremost automotive publications, at its 30th anniversary on June 4, 2026, with a grand event at the MUSON Centre.
The milestone gathering is expected to attract top policymakers, industry leaders, diplomats, and innovators, marking three decades of influential journalism, advocacy, and contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s automotive sector.
Established on June 12, 1996, as a syndicated radio magazine programme, Motoring World pioneered automotive broadcasting in Nigeria before expanding into print in 1998. Over the years, it has evolved into a multi-platform publication championing industry development, modernisation, and policy reforms.
Beyond reportage, the organisation has played a significant role in shaping regulatory frameworks, promoting local content, and advancing industry standards across the automotive ecosystem.
Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of Motoring World Communications Limited, Femi Owoeye, said the brand was founded to provide structure and a strong voice for the sector.
“Motoring World started with a simple vision: to give voice and structure to Nigeria’s automotive industry. Over the years, we have gone beyond reporting to actively advocating for policies that support industry development, local production, and a more structured automotive ecosystem”, he noted.
Activities lined up for the celebration include the unveiling of a special 30th anniversary edition of Motoring World magazine, highlighting the evolution, milestones, and future of Nigeria’s automotive industry. The event will also honour distinguished contributors who have demonstrated three decades of excellence in the sector.
A keynote lecture titled, “Reporting the Road Ahead: Automotive Journalism as a Catalyst for Nigeria’s Auto Industry Development”, will spotlight the critical role of the media in shaping the country’s automotive landscape.
Dignitaries expected at the event include the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; the Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Oluwemimo Osanipin; as well as governors from Lagos State and Ekiti State, transport commissioners, and members of the diplomatic corps.
Owoeye added that the anniversary is not only a celebration of longevity but also a recognition of the partnerships and resilience that have sustained the industry.
“This anniversary is a tribute to resilience, partnerships, and the collective drive that has kept Nigeria’s automotive industry moving forward. As we celebrate our journey and honour industry icons, we are setting the stage for the next chapter of mobility in Nigeria”, he said.
The anniversary event is expected to serve as a platform for reflection, recognition, and renewed commitment to advancing Nigeria’s automotive industry.
