United Nigeria Airlines has activated its presence on the Amadeus Global Distribution System (GDS), significantly expanding its reach to the international travel marketplace and marking a major milestone in its commercial strategy.
With the integration now live, travel agents, corporate clients, and travel management companies worldwide can seamlessly search, book, and manage United Nigeria Airlines’ flights through the Amadeus platform, boosting the airline’s global visibility and accessibility.
Speaking on the development, the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Adedayo Olawuyi, described the move as a transformative step in strengthening its distribution network.
“Our integration with Amadeus represents a major leap forward in our commitment to providing convenient and efficient access to our services. It opens up United Nigeria Airlines to a wider global audience and strengthens our ability to serve both domestic and international travellers through trusted travel partners”, Olawuyi said.
He added that the platform would enable the airline to scale distribution, deepen market penetration, and enhance customer convenience through improved booking experiences, real-time inventory access, and advanced fare management capabilities.
The GDS rollout comes amid ongoing expansion efforts by the carrier, including the addition of more Boeing 737-800NG aircraft to its fleet. A new aircraft is scheduled for unveiling on Thursday, June 18, as the airline ramps up capacity to meet rising passenger demand and improve operational efficiency.
United Nigeria Airlines also confirmed it is exploring regional expansion opportunities and strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening connectivity and supporting long-term growth.
Reacting to the partnership during an event at the airline’s Lagos office, Amadeus Regional General Manager, Yaan Gilbert, said the collaboration reflects the company’s commitment to Africa’s rapidly growing aviation sector.
“This partnership underscores our focus on investing in Africa to modernise travel technology infrastructure and connect local carriers to the global stage. By joining forces with United Nigeria Airlines, we are unlocking new opportunities for growth and market access”, he said.
Gilbert noted that the integration makes the airline’s inventory instantly accessible to hundreds of thousands of travel agencies and partners worldwide, further enhancing its competitiveness.
With its expanding fleet, growing passenger numbers, and now global distribution capability, United Nigeria Airlines is positioning itself for sustained growth as it seeks a larger share of Nigeria’s aviation market.
