Dr. Ngozi Manafa

Dr. Ngozi Manafa is combining institution building, teacher development, educational research and inclusive learning in an effort to create schools where academic knowledge goes hand in hand with character, creativity and practical life skills.

An educationist, scholar, researcher, author and educational leader, Manafa is the Founder of Flora Field Montessori School and Flora Field College in Awka, Anambra State, where she has developed a learner-centred approach to education focused on independence, leadership, inclusion and lifelong learning.

Her educational philosophy extends beyond classroom instruction, with emphasis on building systems that support effective teaching, sound school management, learner development and continuous improvement.

Building Institutions

The establishment of Flora Field Montessori School marked the beginning of Manafa’s institutional vision of creating learning environments that nurture the whole child.

With the later establishment of Flora Field College, the vision expanded to provide learners with a broader educational pathway while maintaining the focus on holistic development.

For Manafa, effective education requires more than curriculum delivery. It involves strong leadership, professionally trained teachers, appropriate structures, learner support systems and an environment where both teachers and students can thrive.

Promoting Montessori, Inclusive Education

Montessori education and early childhood development remain central to Manafa’s professional interests.

Her approach encourages children to explore their environment, make choices, develop independence and acquire practical life skills through purposeful learning.

She also advocates inclusive education, particularly for children with diverse learning needs, promoting school environments where individual differences are recognised and learners are given opportunities to participate meaningfully and develop according to their abilities.

Research Meets Practice

Manafa holds a PhD in Educational Management, with a specialisation in Foundations of Education.

Her academic interests span educational leadership, inclusive education, early childhood and Montessori education, teacher effectiveness, school management and learner development.

She has also contributed to educational discourse through articles and research papers addressing issues around teaching, school administration, inclusive learning and the holistic development of learners.

Her work seeks to bridge the gap between educational theory and everyday practice by applying research findings to challenges confronting schools, teachers and learners.

Teachers At the Centre

Teacher development is another key area of Manafa’s contribution to the education sector.

She has been involved in training and mentoring educators in areas including teaching practice, child development, inclusive education, learner support, classroom management, educational leadership and school improvement.

Her training approach places emphasis on practical application, helping educators translate educational principles into effective classroom practices.

Beyond teachers, her learner-centred philosophy encourages students to develop creativity, confidence, critical thinking, leadership, responsibility, collaboration and problem-solving abilities.

Building People, Not Just Schools

Manafa’s leadership approach combines school administration with direct engagement with teachers, learners and parents.

She views schools as communities that depend on people, professional standards and a culture of continuous improvement.

Her career has therefore brought together Montessori and early childhood education, inclusive learning, teacher training, educational research and institutional management.

At the heart of her philosophy is the belief that education should go beyond preparing children for examinations. It should help them discover their abilities, develop confidence and acquire the values and skills required to contribute meaningfully to society.

Through institution building, educational publications, teacher development and learner empowerment, Manafa continues to position education as a tool for sustainable transformation – one learner, one teacher and one school at a time.
