The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) will put Nigeria’s maritime security capabilities on display at the Africa International Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX) 2026, with live land and maritime demonstrations showcasing the operational strength of the country’s Deep Blue Project.
The exhibition, scheduled for October 26 to 29, 2026, will provide an international platform for the Agency to demonstrate the capabilities of Nigeria’s Integrated National Security and Waterways Protection Infrastructure, designed to strengthen security across the nation’s maritime domain.
The demonstrations will highlight Nigeria’s investment in advanced maritime security infrastructure, specialised personnel, intelligence gathering, surveillance and coordinated operational responses to security threats.
These capabilities are central to protecting the country’s territorial waters, critical maritime assets, coastal infrastructure and strategic shipping routes within the Gulf of Guinea.
Speaking ahead of the event, NIMASA Director-General, Dr Dayo Mobereola, said the Agency’s participation was aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s progress in maritime security through technology, intelligence sharing and inter-agency collaboration to the international community.
He described the Deep Blue Project as a critical component of Nigeria’s maritime security architecture, supporting efforts to combat piracy, armed robbery at sea and other maritime crimes while safeguarding shipping and maritime-related economic activities.

Mobereola noted that the live demonstrations would enable stakeholders and international participants to assess the project’s operational readiness, tactical proficiency and coordinated response capabilities.
He stressed that effective maritime security extends beyond the deployment of modern equipment to include well-trained personnel, efficient command structures and sustained collaboration among relevant security agencies.
AFRIDEX 2026 is expected to attract governments, armed forces, maritime authorities, security organisations and international defence technology partners for the exhibition of innovations, exchange of operational knowledge and promotion of cooperation across the land, maritime, air, cyber and space domains.
NIMASA’s participation will also provide an opportunity to demonstrate Nigeria’s capacity to conduct integrated security operations while strengthening regional cooperation and protecting critical national infrastructure.
The Agency said its participation underscores its continued commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to enhance maritime safety and security, consolidate security gains in the Gulf of Guinea and create a safer operating environment for shipping, offshore operations and the sustainable growth of Nigeria’s Blue Economy.
