Air Peace Limited, has promoted two of its accomplished Senior First Officers, Felix Adebambo and Emmanuel Adeniji, to the rank of Captain on its Embraer 195-E2 fleet, reinforcing its investment in indigenous aviation talent, professional development and operational safety.

The elevation, marked by a decoration ceremony at the airline’s corporate headquarters in Lagos, underscores Air Peace’s commitment to building local capacity and creating clear career progression pathways for Nigerian pilots.

The ceremony was attended by the airline’s Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Allen Onyema; Director of Flight Operations, Capt. James Onipe; Head of Training, Capt. Gerald Udaya; and family members of the newly promoted Captains.

Speaking at the event, Onipe traced the professional journeys of the two officers, highlighting their accumulated flight experience, outstanding performance during training and successful completion of the rigorous assessments required for their elevation.

He described their promotion as recognition of their technical competence, discipline and preparedness to assume the greater responsibilities associated with aircraft command.

Also speaking, Capt. Udaya emphasised the importance of strict adherence to operational procedures, sound professional judgment and an uncompromising commitment to safety.

He reminded the officers that attaining the rank of Captain was not merely a career milestone but also a call to greater responsibility in protecting lives and upholding the airline’s operational standards.

The highlight of the ceremony was the decoration of Adebambo and Adeniji with their Captain epaulettes, formally ushering them into the ranks of aircraft commanders.

In their separate remarks, the newly promoted Captains expressed appreciation to the Chairman, Management and their instructors for their mentorship, support and confidence in their abilities.

Adeniji, who proudly described himself as an “Air Peace Baby”, recounted his journey with the airline, which began with its sponsorship of his flight training.

He described his promotion as the fulfilment of a long-held ambition and a reflection of Air Peace’s commitment to identifying, training and developing aviation professionals from the classroom to the cockpit.

Similarly, Adebambo, who joined Air Peace from Aero Contractors, described his experience with the airline as rewarding, particularly highlighting its rapid growth, continuous fleet expansion and increasing opportunities for professional advancement.

Both officers pledged to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating professionalism, discipline and exemplary leadership in their new positions.

Congratulating the newly decorated Captains, Dr Onyema expressed pride in their achievements, particularly their attainment of the command rank at relatively young ages.

He, however, stressed that beyond technical proficiency, personal character, integrity and leadership qualities were critical determinants of success in aviation and life.

“Character is everything. Character can take you to places you never imagined. How you handle leadership, both within and outside the cockpit, will determine the altitude you attain in life”, he said.

The Air Peace Chairman used the occasion to reaffirm the airline’s zero-compromise approach to safety, warning the new Captains against unnecessary risks or decisions that could endanger passengers and crew.

“We don’t want heroics in aircraft. If, in your best judgment, an aircraft is not serviceable or the weather conditions are unfavourable, don’t fly. Nobody will force you to compromise safety. In aviation, what we preach above everything else is safety”, Onyema emphasised.

He assured the officers that Management would support decisions taken in the genuine interest of operational safety, urging them to uphold honesty, accountability and sound professional judgment at all times.

Onyema also congratulated their families, acknowledging the support and sacrifices that had contributed to the pilots’ professional journeys. He urged the new Captains to lead by example, remain humble and discharge their responsibilities with integrity and professionalism.

The latest promotions highlighted Air Peace’s sustained investment in human capital development and its drive to strengthen Nigeria’s indigenous pilot workforce.

By supporting the professional growth of its personnel and providing opportunities for advancement within its operations, the airline continues to contribute to the development of skilled aviation manpower in Nigeria and the wider African aviation market.
