
The Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the effective implementation of the National Policy on Marine and Blue Economy, emphasising the need of collaboration to drive the policy.
This commitment was reiterated by WISTA Nigeria President, Dr. Odunayo Ani, during a stakeholder engagement convened by the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy in Lagos.
Ani commended the Ministry for crafting a policy that reflects the federal government’s resolve to drive sustainable ocean governance, job creation, economic diversification, and environmental stewardship. She praised the Ministry’s inclusive approach, which brings together stakeholders from the public and private sectors, academia, and civil society.
She emphasised the importance of strategic collaboration for the policy’s successful implementation, highlighting WISTA Nigeria’s commitment to inclusivity, gender equity, innovation, and capacity building. The Present also lauded the Ministry’s recognition of women’s vital role in maritime development and pledged WISTA Nigeria’s support through advocacy, training, and partnerships.
