The African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU) in Abuja has taken a significant step towards establishing its Faculty of Engineering by embarking on and facility tour to the School of Engineering and Sustainable Development at De Montfort University (DMU) in the United Kingdom.
The visit focused on faculty development discussions and inspecting relevant facilities at DMU, as AAAU prepares to commence academic programmes in Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering. This initiative is part of AAAU’s strategic plan to equip the next generation of aviation professionals with the technical expertise and practical skills required for the evolving aviation and aerospace industry.
The AAAU delegation, consisting of the Registrar, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, Head of Department, Aviation Business, Dr. Endurance Keyamo, and Dr. Joel Adams of the Royal Air Force, met with the DMU team led by Dr. Richard Cross, Duncan Hepworth, and Dr. John Asu. The collaboration aims to identify essential infrastructure, laboratories, and workshops necessary for the smooth take-off of the new faculty.

This partnership is expected to foster international academic partnerships and ensure that AAAU’s Faculty of Engineering meets global standards in aerospace education and research, marking a significant step towards achieving its goals.
