The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has announced its preparation to conduct its annual Search and Rescue (SAR) Simulation Exercise today at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
This exercise is a crucial component of Nigeria’s aviation safety protocol, designed to test operational preparedness, improve inter-agency collaboration, and enhance response times in the event of real-life aviation emergencies.
A pre-exercise debriefing was held yesterday at the airport, bringing together key stakeholders from across the aviation and emergency management sectors, including the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
Representatives from participating organisations reiterated their commitment to ensuring a coordinated and effective response to any airspace-related emergencies.
The exercise aims to assess Nigeria’s operational preparedness for airspace emergencies and align response efforts with global aviation standards.
