
The Organiser of Akwaaba African Travel Market, Ambassador Ikechi Uko, has announced that he will be buring his father, Late Elder S. O.Uko, on April 11, 2025 at Ogbuebilla Oboro in Ikwuano Local Government Area (LGA)of Abia State.
Late Elder Uko died at the age of 98 years and 10 months on the 1st of October 2024. He was born on the 29th of December 1925 to Elder Enyinnaya Uko (Egbu gi bekee) of the Uko Iroegbu household of Ekpinma Ngwaukwu Ogbuebilla, Oboro Ikwuano LGA, Abia State
He joined the Nigerian Railways in 1956 as a communication technician. This took him around the country, and he had his children in different towns in Nigeria.
Late Elder Uko who lost his wife in 2009 was also a Lay preacher with the Methodist Church of Nigeria.
The Service of Songs will be held at the Methodist Wesley Cathedral in Enugu on the 7th of April.
According to Ambassador Uko, “my Dad was a great inspiration and a great example for living a fulfilled life. I always teased him that he got me into travelling, only that he travelled by rail but I travel by air.
“He will be well missed by his sibling, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren”.
