APM Terminals Apapa has announced the movement of 600 containers by rail within a five-week period, comprising 500 import and 100 export units, in a move aimed at enhancing cargo evacuation efficiency.
The terminal operator disclosed this in a statement shared on X, noting that the milestone was achieved through strategic collaboration with the Nigerian Railway Corporation.
According to the company, the initiative underscores its commitment to innovative logistics solutions designed to ease port congestion and improve supply chain performance.
“In just five weeks, APM Terminals Rail, in collaboration with the Nigerian Railway Corporation, has moved 500 import and 100 export containers—innovation that keeps your cargo moving and your supply chain on track”, said APMT.
The development highlights growing reliance on rail transport as a sustainable alternative for cargo movement, particularly in addressing longstanding challenges associated with road haulage at the nation’s busiest seaports.
