… as Olomu reassures stakeholders of system improvement

The success of the B’Odogwu platform has continued to count as the Apapa Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded a revenue milestone of N161 Billion in three weeks.

This is just as the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, expressed optimism that the Unified Customs Management System, popularly known as the B’Odogwu will soon surpass user expectations.

This assurance came on the heels of the remarkable ₦161,258,483,474.63 collected between August 1 and August 22, 2025, on this platform.

The CAC attributed this success to the relentless efforts of the command’s personnel and the stakeholders’ patience and understanding during the system’s initial challenges.

He emphasised that the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, has been proactive in engaging stakeholders to address concerns and ensure the smooth operation of the B’Odogwu system. These efforts include dialogue with the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) to mitigate the effects of recent downtime experienced by traders.

The Area Controller commended the stakeholders for their maturity and support, expressing confidence that the NCS would overcome the existing network glitches. He assured that the CGC is deeply involved in overseeing the solution process and has directed officers to work extra hours, including weekends, to expedite the clearance of pending jobs and minimise delays.

Olomu’s reassurance underscores the NCS’s commitment to improving the B’Odogwu system and enhancing trade facilitation at the Apapa Port Command, a critical hub for the realisation of the Service’s goals. With the revenue milestone achieved and the dedication to resolving system challenges, the Apapa Command is poised for continued growth and efficiency in its operations.
