Ethiopian Airlines has announced the resumption of its direct passenger flights between Addis Ababa and Atlanta, set to commence on May 21, 2026, following a temporary suspension of the route in February 2026.
The reinstated service will once again link Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD) with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), restoring a vital air bridge between Africa and the United States for both business and leisure travellers. The move is expected to enhance connectivity and provide greater travel flexibility for passengers flying between Atlanta and Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive global network.
Speaking on the development, the Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, Mesfin Tasew, described Atlanta as a key destination, noting that the airline is pleased to bring the route back into operation. He highlighted the growing demand from business travelers, the African diaspora, and tourists seeking seamless access to destinations across Africa.
Atlanta remains a major economic and cultural hub in the United States, with one of the largest African diaspora populations. The resumed flights will offer convenient connections to cities across the southeastern United States, as well as onward travel to multiple destinations across Africa via Addis Ababa.
Ethiopian Airlines currently operates to several U.S. destinations and continues to expand its transatlantic footprint as part of its long-term growth strategy. The return of the Atlanta route further strengthens the airline’s role in bridging Africa with global markets.
Tickets for the resumed service are available through Ethiopian Airlines’ official website, mobile app, ticket offices, global customer interaction centers, and authorised travel agents.
