The International Press Centre (IPC) has strongly condemned the killing of Peter Ojo, an Ibadan-based journalist with Daily Monitor, shot by suspected armed robbers on August 18, 2025, along the Molete-Oke Ado axis of Ibadan.

The incident was initially thought to be health-related until Ojo’s younger brother, Enahoro Peter, clarified that he was attacked.

IPC’s Press Freedom Officer, Melody Akinjiyan, described the loss as sad for the media industry. While acknowledging ongoing police investigations, Akinjiyan urged the authorities to examine all possible angles, charge the suspect in custody to court, and make efforts to arrest the remaining suspects who escaped.

This, she said, would bring some solace to the family and colleagues left behind.
