Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has reinforced its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with the graduation of 36 trainees from its Batch 2025 Vocational Training Programme, equipping young Nigerians with critical technical skills for economic empowerment.

The graduation ceremony, held on Tuesday March 10, 2025, marked the successful completion of training in key trades such as carpentry, masonry, and plumbing, highlighting the company’s sustained investment in skills development and capacity building within its host communities.

Speaking at the event, Director of Administration, Dr. Abdulaziz Kaita, described the programme as a reflection of purposeful and impactful CSR. He noted that the initiative goes beyond ceremony, representing measurable contributions to national development through human capital development.

Kaita stressed that the graduation marks the beginning of a new journey for the trainees, adding that the company aims to expand the programme to enable more Nigerian youths acquire certified technical skills. 

He underscored the economic importance of vocational expertise, noting that skilled artisans play a key role in improving construction quality, reducing import dependence, and driving grassroots economic growth.

He urged the graduates to embrace excellence, integrity, and discipline as they step into the workforce, expressing confidence that the training would serve as a strong foundation for their future.

Also speaking, Head of Human Resources, Olorunfemi Ojomo, commended the graduates for their dedication and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to investing in human capital as a driver of national development. He emphasised the critical role of vocational skills in strengthening Nigeria’s construction sector and creating sustainable opportunities.

In her remarks, Talent Manager, Mrs. Goodness Onoja, highlighted the growth of the programme from its 2024 automotive training phase to its 2025 expansion into multiple technical disciplines. She revealed that 36 out of 40 trainees successfully completed the programme this year, including two female participants, and announced that all graduates would receive Nigerian Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) Level 1 and Level 2 certifications.

Looking ahead, she disclosed that the 2026 batch will introduce new training areas, including electrical installation and solar technology, with support from international development partner Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to enhance curriculum standards and training infrastructure.

Speaking on behalf of the graduating class, Class President, Ms. Victorious Odah, expressed appreciation to the company for providing a structured and practical learning environment. She noted that the programme equipped participants with hands-on skills and the confidence needed to thrive in real-world work settings.

The training programme combined practical instruction, mentorship, and structured learning designed to improve employability and foster entrepreneurship among participants.
