The Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) has finalised plans for the public unveiling of its groundbreaking publication, “50 Drivers of Nigeria’s Marine and Blue Economy”, slated for Thursday, December 4, 2025, at The Providence Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, by 12 noon.

The landmark book developed after months of rigorous research and sector-wide consultations documents the achievements and strategic interventions of influential figures whose work has shaped Nigeria’s maritime and blue economy trajectory.

Speaking ahead of the event, MARAN Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mr. Jayeolatunde Ayodele, described the publication as a “bold and objective attempt to capture the stories of individuals whose leadership has moved the sector forward”.

According to him, “this book is MARAN’s unbiased, carefully researched contribution to building institutional memory within the maritime industry. 

“As Nigeria restructures its Marine and Blue Economy framework, it is important to recognise the champions whose ideas and reforms have driven growth, innovation, and improved governance”.

Ayodele said it is designed to serve as a credible reference resource for policymakers, researchers, industry operators, students, and development partners. He added that the project also aims to encourage accountability while fostering a culture of service and excellence within the sector.

Reiterating MARAN’s commitment to elevating industry knowledge and transparency, Ayodele said the association will continue to provide intellectual materials that support national development.

The high-profile launch will feature distinguished guests, including Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho, former Minister of Interior and Chairman, Integrated Oil & Gas as the  Chairman of the Occasion.

Chief (Mrs.) Carol Ufere, former General Manager, SERVICOM, Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) as Book Reviewer, and Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy as the Special Guest of Honour.

Chairman of the Launch Planning Committee, Mr. Kenneth Jukpor, expressed confidence that the event will strengthen industry collaboration and spark wider conversations around Nigeria’s immense blue economy potential.
