The Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has announced that its representative, Comrade Olumba Maduabuchukwu, excelled at the recently concluded International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) Youth Regional Conference held in Dar Es Salam, Tanzania.
Maduabuchukwu was the sole representative from MWUN and emerged with flying colours among participants from various African countries, including Sierra Leone, Ghana, and Malawi.
Upon his return, Maduabuchukwu was warmly received by MWUN’s leadership, led by President General, Comrade Bunu Abi. The Union’s leadership commended Maduabuchukwu’s achievement and emphasised the importance of exposing young members to such trainings to build a stronger union for future generations.
Maduabuchukwu expressed gratitude to the MWUN leadership for the opportunity to attend the conference, describing it as an eye-opener that equipped him with new knowledge and valuable connections with other young African trade unionists.

He praised the facilitators as excellent, instructive, and morally sound, and noted that the lessons learned would be invaluable in advancing his role as a maritime labour leader.
The MWUN leadership has pledged to continue providing similar training opportunities for its young members, believing that engaging them in strategic courses and workshops is essential for building a better legacy for the union.
