NAHCO Travel and Hospitality Limited (NHTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO), has commissioned the Sapphire Hotel, a premium in-terminal hospitality facility located inside the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Terminal II departure area, Lagos.

The 20-room luxury hotel marks a major expansion of NAHCO’s presence in the aviation services value chain, offering world-class comfort and convenience to international travellers, transit passengers, long-layover guests and business executives.

Redefining Airport Hospitality

Strategically positioned just steps from the check-in and boarding gates, Sapphire Hotel operates 24 hours a day, allowing passengers to move seamlessly from terminal activity into a calm, high-end resting environment without leaving the airport.

Speaking at the commissioning, Prince Group Executive Director (GED), Commercial and Business Development, NAHCO Plc, Prince Saheed Lasisi, said the project reflects NAHCO’s commitment to excellence in travel management.

“As one of Nigeria’s most reliable travel organisations, NAHCO continues to position itself as a trusted partner for hassle-free movement. We guarantee that the guest experience at Sapphire Hotel will be second to none in the country”, Lasisi stated.

Comprehensive Guest Experience

Designed as more than a stop-over facility, Sapphire Hotel functions as a full-service hospitality hub. The Business Head/CEO of NHTL, Ms. Ruky Ogbetuo, outlined the key offerings of the new establishment:

Premium Accommodation: Tastefully furnished rooms with top-tier amenities.

Wellness & Productivity: On-site business office, gym/exercise area and laundry services.

Culinary Excellence: Complimentary breakfast for guests with diverse lunch and dinner options.

Integrated Access: Immediate connection to the Sapphire Lounge, a 127-seater premium passenger facility with a VVIP section and dedicated prayer area.

Also speaking, Group Chief Subsidiaries Officer, Mr. M.I. Uddin, said the hotel was created to balance luxury with functionality.

“Whether you are on a long layover or need to be seconds away from your boarding gate, we have built a space that delivers comfort, efficiency and convenience”, he said.

Strategic Milestone for NAHCO

The launch ceremony attracted NAHCO’s leadership, including the Group Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Muyiwa Olumekun, Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Adeoye Emiloju, GED, Corporate Services, Dr. Sola Obabori, and Lasisi. Also in attendance were representatives of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), major international airlines and frequent flyers.

The Sapphire Hotel initiative reinforces NAHCO’s diversification drive, positioning the Company beyond ground handling into a broader travel and hospitality ecosystem.
