The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, has been honoured with an Award of Recognition by his alma mater, St. Patrick’s Grammar School, for his outstanding commitment to mentorship and youth development.
The award was presented during the school’s 64th Founders’ Day celebration held in Ibadan, where Mobereola joined fellow alumni and stakeholders to celebrate the institution’s legacy of academic excellence and character building.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Mobereola expressed gratitude to the school’s management and its Old Boys’ Association, describing the recognition as deeply meaningful.
He recalled his formative years at the institution, noting that returning for the celebration stirred a sense of nostalgia.
“Attending the 64th Founders’ Day of St. Patrick’s Grammar School, Ibadan, brought back a flood of memories”, he said. “Fifty years after walking through those gates, I remain grateful for the friendships, the guidance from teachers, and the enduring bond with classmates. I sincerely appreciate the Old Boys’ Association for this recognition, which I do not take for granted”.
The NIMASA boss reaffirmed his dedication to mentoring young people, emphasising his role as a guide for the next generation.

“I remain committed to serving as a role model and to mentoring young men as they navigate their own paths”, he added.
He also charged students of the school to stay focused, disciplined, and committed to excellence, stressing that mentorship and positive role models remain critical to achieving success.
The event brought together alumni across different generations, alongside education stakeholders, to celebrate the school’s contributions to society over the decades.
