The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Aviation Hub has announced a comprehensive strategy to address the growing incidents of unruly passenger behaviour in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The initiative aims to collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Federal Ministry of Aviation, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), to implement measures that promote safe and respectful travel.

The proposed strategy includes enhanced staff training and capacity building, public awareness and passenger education, strengthened enforcement and legal measures, and industry-wide collaboration.

The NIPR Aviation Hub plans to establish an Aviation Passenger Conduct Task Force to track trends and recommend policy updates.

According to the Chairman of the NIPR Aviation Hub, Basil Agboarumi, the safety and comfort of all passengers and crew remain the top priority. The body commended the NCAA, FAAN, and the Ministry of Aviation for their leadership on this issue and urged swift adoption of the measures. The NIPR Aviation Hub also called on airlines and airport authorities to prioritise staff training and adopt standardised response protocols.

The initiative highlights the importance of collaboration and proactive measures to foster a culture of respect and compliance in Nigeria’s air travel space.

The NIPR Aviation Hub emphasised the crucial role of the media in supporting public awareness campaigns for safer and more orderly travel.
