The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has reinforced its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community development with the donation of a specialised, adjustable dental chair to the General Hospital, Apapa, Lagos.
The intervention, aimed at strengthening oral healthcare services in the area, underscores the Council’s sustained efforts to foster healthy relationships within its host communities and support critical public health infrastructure.
The equipment was presented to the hospital’s dental unit by a delegation led by the Director of the Special Duties Department on behalf of the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Council, Dr. Akutah Pius.
Speaking during the presentation, the Council reaffirmed its dedication to initiatives that directly enhance the well-being of Nigerians. It emphasised that access to quality healthcare remains a vital pillar of sustainable community development, noting that the NSC is proud to contribute meaningfully to medical infrastructure in communities where it operates.
The newly donated dental chair is equipped with adjustable and specialised features designed to improve patient comfort while enhancing the efficiency and precision of dental procedures. The equipment is expected to reduce procedural strain on practitioners and provide patients with a more seamless and positive treatment experience.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the hospital, the Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer of General Hospital Apapa, Dr. Lateefat Agbaje, expressed profound appreciation to the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, describing the gesture as timely and impactful.
She stated that the donation would significantly strengthen the hospital’s dental unit, expand treatment capacity, and shorten waiting times for patients in Apapa and surrounding communities who require dental care.
The donation reflects the Nigerian Shippers’ Council’s longstanding tradition of impactful corporate social responsibility initiatives. Beyond its statutory role in regulating and promoting efficiency in the maritime sector, the Council continues to demonstrate that sustainable development goes hand in hand with meaningful social investment.
With this latest intervention, the NSC further cements its reputation as a socially responsible institution committed not only to industry advancement but also to improving the quality of life in its host communities.
