The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reaffirmed its commitment to stronger collaboration with key stakeholders through strategic courtesy and familiarisation visits aimed at boosting security, intelligence sharing and operational efficiency across the zone.
The engagement, held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, forms part of the Command’s drive to enhance inter-agency cooperation and community partnerships in tackling smuggling, economic sabotage and other transborder crimes.
As part of the initiative, the Operational Headquarters of the Command hosted the Nigerian Air Force Works Station, Ibadan, led by Air Commodore D.U. Njoku, who paid a familiarisation visit with his delegation. They were received by the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Wale Adewole, alongside principal officers of the Command.
Speaking during the visit, Njoku stressed the importance of sustained synergy among security agencies in addressing emerging threats and safeguarding national interests. He noted that effective collaboration remains critical to combating smuggling, economic sabotage and other security challenges.

In his response, Adewole thanked the Nigerian Air Force for the visit and reiterated the Command’s readiness to deepen existing partnerships.
He said the Nigeria Customs Service remains committed to its core mandates of revenue generation, trade facilitation and border security, adding that cooperation with sister agencies enhances operational effectiveness.
In a related engagement, the Acting Customs Area Controller also paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Oyo State Command, where he was received by a Deputy Comptroller of Immigration on behalf of the State Controller, DC V.C. Oyeaka.

Discussions focused on intelligence sharing, coordinated border management and proactive measures to strengthen the State’s security architecture.
Further strengthening community relations, Adewole paid homage to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Senator) Rasheed Ladoja, recognising traditional institutions as vital partners in sustaining peace, promoting lawful trade and supporting community-based security initiatives.

He noted that grassroots collaboration plays a key role in addressing security challenges and creating an environment conducive to economic growth.
Adewole reaffirmed that the Oyo/Osun Area Command would continue to build productive relationships with security agencies, traditional authorities and other stakeholders to ensure the effective discharge of its statutory responsibilities.
