The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intensified inter-agency collaboration with the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan Zonal Directorate, in a renewed push to strengthen national security and enhance service delivery.

As part of the engagements, the Garrison Commander of the 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Brigadier General Abubakar Saddiq Bugaje, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Operational Headquarters of the Oyo/Osun Area Command.

Speaking during the visit, Brigadier General Bugaje expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and his delegation. He reiterated that the Nigerian Army remains responsible for protecting lives and property within Oyo State and stressed the importance of sustained cooperation among security agencies.

“No agency can operate in isolation”, he said, reaffirming the commitment of the 2 Division to continued collaboration and support for the Customs Command in tackling security challenges across the state.

Responding, the Acting Customs Area Controller for the Oyo/Osun Area Command, Deputy Comptroller of Customs (DC) Moses Adewole, acknowledged the crucial role of the Nigerian Army in safeguarding the nation against external aggression and maintaining internal security.

He assured the Garrison Commander that the Command values its existing partnership with the Army and remains committed to strengthening collaboration for improved operational efficiency.

In a related development, DC Adewole, accompanied by members of the Command’s Management Team, on Thursday, February 26, 2026, paid a familiarisation visit to the EFCC Zonal Office in Ibadan.

During the visit, the Customs boss commended the EFCC for its steadfast efforts in combating corruption and financial crimes nationwide. He sought to sustain and deepen cooperation with the Commission in the areas of joint operations, intelligence sharing and capacity-building initiatives.

In her remarks, the EFCC Zonal Director, Mrs. Hauwa Garba Ringim, appreciated the visit and described the relationship between the Commission and the Oyo/Osun Area Command as cordial and mutually beneficial.

She assured the Customs Area Controller of the EFCC’s continued support, particularly in intelligence sharing, joint enforcement operations and other collaborative activities aimed at strengthening accountability and national security.

The series of engagements, the Command noted, underscore its unwavering commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with sister agencies to enhance security, promote transparency and ensure effective service delivery in the interest of national development.
