The Ports Authority Police has urged the public to play a more active role in ensuring safety and security at Nigeria’s seaport terminals, emphasising that safe terminal operations are crucial for national interest.
According to ASP Isaac Hundeyin, safe terminal operations protect lives, cargo, and investments, and maintain Nigeria’s reputation in global commerce.
The police outlined key areas of terminal safety, including access control, cargo handling, and fire safety. They stressed the importance of public awareness and cooperation, urging frequent port users to follow safety guidelines such as carrying valid identification and reporting suspicious activity.
Hundeyin emphasised that safety is a shared responsibility, stating, “when everyone plays their part, terminals can become not only centres of trade and economic growth but also models of discipline and security”.
The Ports Authority Police reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding maritime infrastructure and supporting Nigeria’s economic progress.
