The Port & Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) Area Command of the The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Thursday July 3, 2025 hosted a sensitisation session with the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) on asset declaration.

The session aimed to deepen officers understanding of the importance of asset declaration and ethical conduct in public service.

The Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Tenny Daniyan, emphasised the significance of integrity as a personal and professional value, highlighting the service’s commitment to transparency and accountability. “Integrity is not only how you do your work, but how you live your life”, he said, noting that the CCB’s presence was part of efforts to educate officers and keep them on their toes.

The Lagos State Director of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Olufunke Popoola, explained that public officers are required to declare their assets every four years – at entry into service, during service, and at retirement. She assured that asset declarations are kept confidential, only shared with anti-corruption agencies like the EFCC or ICPC during investigations.

The session featured a question-and-answer segment where officers asked about asset declaration procedures, penalties for non-compliance, and navigating the new self-service platform.

The exercise underscores the NCS commitment to upholding ethical standards and preventing corruption.
