Weststar Associates Limited, the Authorised General Distributor of Mercedes-Benz (MV) in Nigeria, has sounded an alarm about the growing threat of counterfeit automotive parts, especially MB.
According to Mercedes-Benz’s 2024 report, 793 raids worldwide led to the seizure of over 1.5 million fake Mercedes-Benz products, highlighting the increasing sophistication of counterfeiters and the significant risks these counterfeit products pose to safety, performance, and customer trust.
The use of substandard brake pads, inferior filters, low-quality lighting systems, and other unauthorized components can lead to sudden vehicle failures, posing a life-threatening danger to drivers, passengers, and other road users.
Managing Director of Weststar Associates Limited, Ebere Anenih, warned that opting for counterfeit or substandard parts might appear to save costs in the short term but exposes customers to much higher risks, both financially and in terms of personal safety.
Anenih advised all Mercedes-Benz customers in Nigeria to insist on Genuine Parts and patronise authorised dealerships and service partners for peace of mind and long-term value. Mercedes-Benz Genuine Parts are engineered, manufactured, and tested according to the brand’s highest global standards, ensuring compatibility, reliability, and durability.
“These parts come with a manufacturer-backed warranty and are supported by Authorised Mercedes-Benz Service Centers, equipped with advanced diagnostic tools and staffed by factory-trained technicians. Weststar is committed to safety and customer satisfaction, working closely with its network of accredited dealers to monitor supply chains and protect customers against counterfeits.
“By choosing Mercedes-Benz Genuine Parts from Weststar’s Authorised Dealership Network, customers can guarantee quality, safety, and performance, with benefits including manufacturer-backed warranty and support, durability and reliability for long-term use, and professional installation by trained technicians”, Anenih said in a statement.
