The Seme/Badagry Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has generated over N1.593 billion in revenue for the months of May and June 2025. 

The Command also intercepted contraband goods worth more than N1.2 billion in the last two months.

According to the Area Controller, Dr. Ben Oramalugo, officers of the Command acting on credible intelligence and coordinated enforcement strategies, successfully intercepted and seized a total of five trucks laden with smuggled goods along the Lagos-Abidjan corridor. The trucks contained 2,800 foreign parboiled rice and 250 bales of second-hand clothing, with a Duty Paid Value of N919,500,626.

Other notable seizures include 898 parcels of cannabis, 1,319 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 40 bags of sugar, 64 bags of flour, and 50 cartons of ketchup tomato. The total Duty Paid Value of all seizures is N1,268,794,474.

The Command facilitated the movement of 1,837 trucks of made-in-Nigeria goods, equivalent to over 116,723.26 metric tonnes, with a Free On Board (FOB) value of N22,368,388,976.10. The National Export Supervision Scheme fees stood at N111,841,944.87.

Oramalugo commended the officers and men of the Seme Area Command for their efforts in combating smuggling and thanked the Comptroller General of Customs and the military for their support. 

He assured Nigerians and legitimate traders that the Lagos-Abidjan corridor remains safe and conducive for lawful trade, while warning those engaged in illegal activities to steer clear.
