
The WIMEAwards 2025 ceremony, held at the Oriental Hotel, honored outstanding women in the maritime and energy sectors for their innovative contributions and resilience.
WIMEAwards, an initiative of Women in Maritime and Energy (WIME), aims to promote gender diversity, mentorship, and policy changes that support women’s advancement in these sectors.
In her opening remarks, Chairperson of the WIMEAwards Advisory Board, Mrs. Chizoba Anyika, emphasised the significance of recognising women’s achievements in these industries.
“Tonight, we celebrate more than just individual accomplishments. We honour the collective impact of women who are shaping the future of maritime and energy”, she stressed.

Anyika highlighted the importance of collaboration, stating, “when we work together, we create real opportunities for women to thrive”.
The keynote speaker, CEO Ingentia Energies and President-elect Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists, Mrs. Olajumoke Ajayi, who is also a leading advocate for women in STEM, emphasised the importance of mentorship and breaking down barriers to entry in these industries. “We need to create environments where women feel empowered to lead and innovate,” she said.
Speaking on the theme Accelerate Action in her Keynote address, Division Manager, Supply Chain & procurement, Oando Energy Resources, Mrs. Modupe Oyeneyin, harped on the impactful role of women in helping organisations navigate change and building resilient culture.
The evening’s honourees were lauded for their exceptional work, dedication, and excellence, inspiring others to pursue careers in maritime and energy.

As Anyika noted, “the future of these industries is female, and this room is filled with unstoppable women who will lead the way”.
The ceremony was a testament to the power of women’s leadership and innovation, with attendees embodying the spirit of “steeze” – confidence, style, and determination.

The WIMEAwards Advisory Board Chairperson congratulated the honourees and expressed gratitude to all who supported the event.
