Tincan Island Container Terminal (TICT) has taken another significant step in its lean journey by initiating Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Training for its team members.

This training follows the successful delivery of the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Training in December 2024.

The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training is designed to equip individuals with the skills to identify, scope, participate in, and lead Continuous Improvement projects. It focuses on the DMAIC cycle methodology, which includes Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, and Control, as well as Lean principles that target the elimination of waste and identification of value.

A total of 36 delegates from across various functions and departments participated in the training, which included class exercises and simulated setups to ensure a solid understanding of the techniques in real-world terminal challenges.

According to the Head, Process Excellence, TICT, Tai Fadipe-Davids,

the goal of the training is to equip the team with project, performance, and process tools that would support continued Lean Six Sigma Maturity growth that TICT commenced under a year ago from a Greenfield status.

Country Managing Director, AGL, Etienne Rocher,  explained that TICT’s Lean Six Sigma journey is at a level whereby their resources and capability are being developed to identify, initiate, lead, and execute small to medium-scale Continuous Improvement projects using the numerous tools of Lean Six Sigma.

He added that their aim is to build human capacity that can take ownership of processes, and they believe this will yield the best result in their quest to deliver value to their clients through operational excellence and effective service delivery.

With this training, TICT is poised to enhance its operational efficiency, increase capacity, and deliver value to its clients through streamlined processes and effective service delivery.
