United Airlines has unveiled plans to add more than 250 aircraft to its fleet over the next two years as part of a major expansion and modernisation programme aimed at enhancing capacity and improving passenger experience across its global network.
The airline said the investment will include new aircraft types, upgraded cabin configurations, and improved onboard amenities designed to deliver a more premium and consistent travel experience for customers across all cabin classes.
The expansion programme forms part of United’s long-term growth strategy, which focuses on fleet renewal, network optimisation, and customer experience enhancement. The airline noted that the introduction of new aircraft will also enable it to retire older, less efficient jets while improving operational efficiency.
United said it will also roll out new onboard cabin products featuring redesigned seats and upgraded amenities across select aircraft types, offering passengers improved comfort, privacy, and in-flight connectivity.
In Africa, United currently operates trans-Atlantic services connecting Accra, Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Lagos with its U.S. hubs, maintaining its position as a key carrier linking the continent to North America.
The airline said the combined fleet expansion and product upgrades will support increased frequency on key routes, expand premium seating capacity, and further strengthen its competitive positioning in the global aviation market.
