United Airlines has received FAA certification for its first mainline Starlink-equipped aircraft, marking a significant milestone in its mission to provide fast and reliable Wi-Fi to its customers.

The airline completed equipment installation on its first Boeing 737-800 aircraft and expects the first commercial flight to depart from Newark/New York on October 15.

This achievement comes less than five months after United’s first Starlink-equipped customer flight on the Embraer 175 regional aircraft and less than a year since the airline signed an agreement with SpaceX to bring Starlink’s Wi-Fi service to its mainline and regional aircraft fleet. United has already installed Starlink on more than half of its regional fleet and continues to install it on approximately 50 regional jets each month.

Key Features of United’s Starlink Service:

– Free Wi-Fi: Starlink is free for all MileagePlus customers, offering Wi-Fi speeds up to 250 megabits per second (Mbps).

– Game-Changing Entertainment: Enjoy streaming services, shopping, gaming, and more with Starlink’s high-speed and consistent connection.

– Superior In-Flight Experience: 90% of customers on regional flights with Starlink have appreciated the ability to stream onboard.

Grant Milstead, United’s Vice President of Digital Technology, expressed excitement about bringing the Starlink experience to more customers, highlighting the technical benefits of the equipment, including its lightweight design and ease of installation.

With Starlink, United aims to unlock an incredible onboard experience for its customers, providing the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky.
