In line with the vision of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the Tincan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has thrown its weight behind the Nigerian Professional Wrestling Federation’s (NPWF) upcoming African International Wrestling Championship.

The NPWF leadership, led by Chief John Uche, paid a courtesy visit to the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Frank Onyeka, at the Command Headquarters in Lagos on October 7, 2025.

The championship, scheduled for October 18 to19, 2025, at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, Anambra State, promises to be a thrilling event, featuring wrestling legends and emerging talents from Nigeria, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and several African nations. The event aims to showcase Nigeria’s untapped wrestling potential, empower over 100 Nigerian youths through grassroots development programmes, and promote youth development, poverty reduction, and job creation.

Onyeka praised the NPWF for its efforts in promoting local sports and commended the Federation’s recognition of the NCS as a strategic partner. He reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote youth development and national growth.

The highlight of the visit was the unveiling and presentation of the championship trophy to Comptroller Onyeka, symbolising the partnership and mutual commitment to the tournament’s success.

By supporting this event, the Tincan Island Customs Command demonstrates its dedication to promoting sports development and empowering the youth.
