Heathrow Airport Chief Customer Officer, Ross Baker

In a historic boost for African aviation, Air Peace has been commended by Mr. Ross Baker, Chief Customer Officer of Heathrow Airport, for launching direct flights between Abuja and London Heathrow — a move that highlights Nigeria’s rising prominence on the global aviation stage.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony at Heathrow’s Terminal 3, Baker described the launch as a “moment of pride and progress” that reflects the strengthening partnership between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

“It’s a real pleasure to welcome everyone today for a truly exciting milestone — one that has been years in the making. The launch of Air Peace’s direct service between London Heathrow and Abuja is more than a new route; it marks the start of a stronger, more connected future between our nations”, Baker said.

He praised Air Peace for its strategic vision, resilience, and commitment to excellence, noting that the airline’s entry into Heathrow — one of the world’s busiest and most competitive international hubs is both bold and historic.

“Abuja is a vibrant and important destination. Nearly 140,000 passengers travelled between the UK and Abuja last year alone, and this new service will make the connection even stronger”, he added.

Baker emphasised that Heathrow’s partnership with Air Peace demonstrates a shared commitment to global connectivity, enhanced passenger choice, and deeper socio-economic ties between the UK and Nigeria.

His remarks highlighted Air Peace as a symbol of Nigeria’s ambition, resilience, and national pride — ushering in a new era for indigenous airlines on the international stage.

Through the Abuja–London Heathrow service, Air Peace continues to expand its global footprint, connecting people, cultures, and economies, while affirming its mission to deliver safe, reliable, and world-class air travel under the Nigerian flag.
