Chairman Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Nigerian Shipowners Association (NISA), Chief Isaac Jolapamo, has adopted the Maritime Career Mentoring Programme (M-CAMP) as his maritime industry legacy project.
The adoption was made during the 13th edition of the quarterly maritime career mentoring programme organised by Platforms Communications in Lagos.
Jolapamo expressed his commitment to grooming a new generation of marine professionals, ensuring the sustainability of indigenous shipping in Nigeria amidst global competition. He commended the organisers, led by Mr. Sylvanus Obasi, for their consistency in hosting the programme, which has been mentoring students in seafaring and other maritime career paths since 2016.
The maritime expert emphasised the importance of mentoring young professionals, citing the need to correct past mistakes and instill good character alongside competence. He pledged to support the programme and encouraged others to do the same, envisioning it as a national project that would benefit the industry as a whole.

Jolapamo also urged participating students to remain committed to their studies and professional development, utilising platforms like M-CAMP to acquire industry knowledge and build networks. In response, Obasi thanked Jolapamo for adopting M-CAMP as his legacy project, revealing plans to expand the programme nationwide and make it a viable succession plan initiative.
M-CAMP is an interactive mentoring platform designed to bring maritime students and young professionals face-to-face with industry experts for mentorship, knowledge transfer, and career guidance.
With Jolapamo’s support, the programme is poised to have a lasting impact on the industry’s growth and sustainability.
