Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has strengthened its operational capacity with the acquisition of ultra-modern Ground Support Equipment (GSE) aimed at improving aircraft handling efficiency and reducing turnaround time across Nigerian airports.

In a major fleet upgrade, the company has taken delivery of a state-of-the-art Goldhofer F300 pushback tractor, manufactured in Germany by globally renowned ground support equipment producer, Goldhofer. The heavy-duty diesel-powered tractor is designed to handle most wide-body aircraft and is built with rugged specifications tailored to Nigeria’s demanding airport terrain.

The newly acquired pushback tractor has already been deployed to one of SAHCO’s hub stations to enhance ramp efficiency and service reliability.

Further reinforcing its operational strength, SAHCO also procured five advanced Ground Power Units (GPUs) manufactured in France by Guinault, a leading global aviation equipment brand. Each GPU delivers 45kVA on 115 volts and 28VDC output, providing stable and efficient electrical power to aircraft systems while on ground.

The fuel-efficient units are engineered for durability, portability, and optimal ramp performance. Their compact design reduces fuel consumption while ensuring consistent support for most Class A aircraft and selected Class B aircraft.

Industry observers say the investment signals SAHCO’s continued push toward modernisation and global best practices in aviation ground handling.

The company stated that the acquisition forms part of its broader strategy to enhance safety standards, improve operational turnaround time, and provide world-class service to airline partners.

As the only ground handling company with operations across all commercially active airports in Nigeria, SAHCO continues to position itself as a benchmark for excellence through sustained investment in advanced equipment and technological innovation.

With this latest addition to its fleet, SAHCO further consolidates its leadership position in Africa’s aviation ground handling sector, driven by efficiency, reliability, and customer-focused solutions.
