Mrs. Evelyn Njoku, President Women in Aviation, Glowing Wings Chapter

As the world commemorates International Women’s Day (IWD), the General Manager of Public Affairs at the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Mrs. Evelyn Njoku, has celebrated the growing contributions of women in the aviation industry, describing them as key drivers of transformation and innovation.

Njoku, who also serves as President of Women in Aviation International, Glowing Wings Chapter, said women across the aviation value chain are increasingly demonstrating leadership, competence, and resilience in roles that were once considered beyond their reach.

In a message to mark the global celebration, she noted that women are steadily reshaping the aviation sector through their contributions in areas such as air traffic control, engineering, management, and public affairs.

“Today, as the world marks International Women’s Day, I stand proud not only as a professional in the aviation industry but as a woman who believes strongly in the limitless strength, intelligence, and resilience of women”, she said.

According to her, women have continued to rise, lead, and transform industries that previously appeared inaccessible, stressing that the aviation industry is witnessing a steady increase in female professionals who are making significant impacts.

“In aviation especially, we are proving every day that competence, vision, and leadership know no gender. From the control towers to boardrooms, from engineering to public affairs, women are shaping the future of our skies”, Njoku stated.

She reaffirmed her commitment to promoting opportunities for women in the sector and encouraging young girls to pursue careers in aviation.

“As General Manager of Public Affairs at NAMA and President of Women in Aviation, Glowing Wings Chapter, I remain deeply committed to advancing opportunities for women, mentoring the next generation, and ensuring that young girls see aviation not as a distant dream but as a field where they can thrive and lead”, she said.

Njoku also emphasised that the significance of International Women’s Day goes beyond celebration, describing it as a reminder of the continued need to promote equality, respect, and opportunities for women across all sectors.

“International Women’s Day is not just a celebration; it is a reminder that equality, respect, and opportunity must continue to be defended and expanded. When women rise, industries grow stronger, communities become better, and nations move forward”, she added.

She further commended women who continue to break barriers while balancing responsibilities and supporting others to succeed.

“To every woman breaking barriers, balancing responsibilities, and lifting others along the way, I celebrate your courage and determination.

“Let us continue to support one another, open doors for the next generation, and build a future where every woman can soar without limits”, Njoku said.
