XE Jet has announced a strategic partnership with the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) to serve as the official aviation partner of Nigeria’s senior women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress.

The agreement, announced in Abuja, is expected to provide dedicated aviation and travel logistics support for the team as they represent Nigeria in international competitions.

Officials said the deal is one of the most significant aviation partnerships supporting women’s basketball in Africa and reflects a growing collaboration between corporate organisations and the sports sector.

Under the partnership, XE Jet will ensure that D’Tigress travel with improved efficiency, safety, and comfort during their international engagements.

The announcement comes as the Nigerian team prepares to compete in the upcoming FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifiers scheduled to take place in Lyon, France, from March 11 to 17, 2026.

Speaking on the partnership, President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, Musa Kida, described the agreement as a significant step toward strengthening the operational and commercial base of Nigerian basketball.

According to him, the partnership reflects increasing confidence from corporate organisations in the success and potential of Nigerian basketball.

Over the past decade, D’Tigress have dominated African women’s basketball, winning multiple continental titles and establishing themselves among the world’s top teams.

As part of activities to mark the partnership, XE Jet will host a Women in Sports Leadership Reception in Lyon during the qualifiers. The event is expected to bring together leaders from sports, diplomacy, and business to promote women’s sports and strengthen global collaboration around African basketball.

The Nigeria Basketball Federation said it remains committed to building strategic partnerships that will support athlete development, strengthen the basketball ecosystem, and position Nigeria as a global force in the sport.
