
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has honoured the President of the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria, Dr. Odunayo Ani, with its prestigious Merit Award in the Members Diamond Category, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the accounting profession and national development.
Ani, who also serves as Director of Financial Services at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), received the award at a well-attended ICAN event in Lagos, graced by distinguished professionals, family members, and associates.
Expressing her appreciation, she described the recognition as both humbling and motivating, noting that it serves as a call to sustain excellence, integrity, and service.
“I am deeply honoured and sincerely grateful to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria for conferring on me this Merit Award”, she said, adding that the honour reflects not only past achievements but also a renewed responsibility to contribute meaningfully to society.

She extended appreciation to ICAN leadership, including the President and Chairman of Council, Haruna N. Yahaya, Vice President Queensley Sofuratu Seghosime, Immediate Past President D.C.S. Alaribe, Registrar/Chief Executive Lanre Olasunkanmi, as well as the Governing Council and the planning committee for the honour.
Dr. Ani dedicated the award to God, her family, mentors, colleagues, and supporters who have contributed to her professional journey. She also acknowledged the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN), led by Blessing Osakwe-Ogo, for their support and solidarity.
Reaffirming her commitment to excellence, she pledged to continue contributing to the growth of the accounting profession, the maritime industry, and national development.
The recognition further highlights Dr. Ani’s impactful leadership across both the maritime and accounting sectors, where she continues to champion professionalism, inclusion, and institutional advancement.
