The Federal Government has approved a 50 per cent reduction in train fares on all services operated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to ease travel costs for Nigerians during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The discount, announced through the Federal Ministry of Transportation, took effect from Tuesday, May 26, 2026, and will run until Monday, June 1, 2026.

Under the directive, ticket prices across all NRC passenger routes nationwide have been cut by half of the current approved rates within the specified period.

The ministry also disclosed that passengers who purchased tickets at full fare prior to the announcement will receive a 50 per cent rebate. The rebate will be valid for reuse on train journeys on or before June 1, 2026.

It added that train schedules and timetables remain unchanged and will operate as previously published.

The Federal Ministry of Transportation expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their continued support and cooperation, while extending warm wishes to the Muslim faithful for a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
