United States-based Nigerian engineer and public advocate, Engr. Martins Chijoke Onyebuenyi, has been nominated for the National Impact Youth Ambassador Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to engineering, youth development, community service and the promotion of good governance.
The organisers said the nomination acknowledges Onyebuenyi’s remarkable achievements as a professional engineer, mentor and nation builder, whose career has been distinguished by technical excellence, integrity and a sustained commitment to empowering young people.
A native of Nriukwu Amaimo, an autonomous community carved out of Amuzu in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, Onyebuenyi began his academic journey at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, where he obtained his first degree in Chemical Engineering. He later advanced his education at Prairie View A&M University, Texas, USA, earning another degree in Chemical Engineering and strengthening his expertise in the field.
His professional career includes serving as a Quality Control Engineer at TAS Energy Inc. in the United States, where he played a key role in maintaining industry standards, ensuring product reliability and promoting best practices in manufacturing and process engineering. His dedication to quality, innovation and professionalism has earned him respect within the engineering profession.
Beyond his accomplishments in engineering, Onyebuenyi has distinguished himself through community service and youth mentorship. Renowned for his simplicity, humility and integrity, he has become a source of inspiration to many young Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, encouraging them to pursue education, embrace hard work and build lives founded on strong values.
He is also recognised for his commitment to good governance and civic responsibility. Through voter education and public enlightenment initiatives, he has consistently encouraged Nigerians to participate actively in the democratic process and to elect leaders based on competence, capacity and credibility rather than ethnic or sectional considerations.
