The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has collected a whopping N1.378 trillion in revenue in the first half of 2025. 

The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, made the disclosure during a visit to the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) headquarters.

Olomu attributed the impressive revenue generation to the collaboration with partners like NAGAFF. He praised the association’s support for the Comptroller General’s transformation agenda and participation in training sessions for customs modernisation.

He commended NAGAFF’s commitment to capacity building, describing the NAGAFF Academy as a testament to the association’s strategic thinking. He also encouraged members to prioritise their health and work-life balance, highlighting the availability of an on-site clinic for officers and stakeholders.

His words: “I wish to announce that as a result of collaboration with partners like NAGAFF, we have attained a total collection of N1,378,000,000,000 for the first half of 2025. Let me also thank you very sincerely for your support of the CGC’s transformation agenda.

“You are aware of the new initiatives and platforms like B’Odogwu and your members have participated in the various training sessions which are part of our building blocks for home-grown and sustainable customs modernisation in Nigeria”.

NAGAFF Founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, noted a significant reduction in unprofessional conduct by Customs officers under Olomu’s leadership, attributing the astronomical revenue increase to improved relations. He advised freight forwarders to be honest in their declarations, emphasising the importance of trust and cooperation.

NAGAFF President, Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, welcomed Olomu’s visit, seeing it as a renewed commitment to trust, collaboration, and progress. 

The event featured the decoration of Olomu and other Apapa Customs management members with NAGAFF lapel pins.
