The Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) has congratulated the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu, on his appointment and assumption of office, describing his emergence as timely and critical for national security.
In a statement signed by its National President, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, the association noted that Disu’s leadership comes at a period when Nigeria urgently requires decisive action to strengthen security, rebuild public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force, and tackle emerging criminal threats impacting key economic and strategic sectors.
“As stakeholders in the nation’s logistics and maritime value chain, we emphasise the urgent need for comprehensive retraining and reorientation of officers toward intelligence-led policing, professionalism, and respect for human rights”, the statement read.
APFFLON stressed that modern security challenges demand enhanced operational capacity, technological integration, and stronger inter-agency collaboration to effectively safeguard trade corridors and national assets.
The association also called for immediate improvements in the welfare of serving and retired police personnel, noting that better working conditions, adequate equipment, improved remuneration, and a sustainable pension structure are vital to boosting morale and promoting integrity within the Force.
“A reformed, disciplined, and well-motivated Police Force remains fundamental to national stability, investor confidence, and economic growth,” Ogunojemite stated.
APFFLON assured the Inspector General of its readiness to collaborate with the Police in promoting secure trade corridors and strengthening the country’s national security architecture.
