
As the stage gets set for the 4th CHINET Aviacargo Conference to be held in Lagos on the 22nd of August 2024, organisers of the air cargo forum has disclosed that this year’s event will have a strong cast of insurance professionals led by the Insurance Commissioner, Mr. Olusegun Omosehin.
Omosehin, according to the organisers will be a Special Guest at the only air cargo event in West Africa organised by ATQNEWS Limited. It brings together the leaders of aviation, cargo business and regulators together with insurance professionals.
Other insurance CEOs listed to grace the occasion include the former Chairman of African Insurance Brokers Association, Chief Babajide Olatunde-Agbeja; Group Managing Director Consolidated Hallmark Holdings, Mr. Eddie Efekoha; Managing Director, Unitrust Insurance Co. Ltd; Mr. Dayo Arowojolu; CEO NSIA Insurance, Mr. Moruf Apampa; and the Managing Director/CEO of AIICO Insurance Plc, Mr. Babajide Fajemirokun.
The topic of the relationship between airlines and insurance will be led by Mr. Eddie Efekoha with Fajemirokun, Apampa and Omowale Olatunde-Agbeja as discussants.
The aviation regulations for air cargo will be delivered by the Acting Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Chris Najomo, while the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, and the new Directorate of Cargo Development Services will showcase the pivotal role FAAN and its airports have been playing in growing air cargo in Nigeria.
The CEO of the most successful airline in Nigeria (Overland Aairways), Capt, Edward Boyo, will share his experience with the audience.
The aviation panel will be moderated by the General Secretary of Aviation Round Table, Olumide Ohunayo and the panelists will include the President of Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Nwuba. The Guest Speaker is the Chairman of MCDAN Aviation Ghana, Dr. Daniel Mckorley.
There will be presentations on the ‘Role of Airports in Growing Air Cargo by the Acting COO of the privately run airport MMA2, Remi Jibodu. Also the COO of Ibom Air, George Uriesi, will be speaking on the ‘Role of Airlines in the Development of Air Cargo.’
Aviation Expert, Capt. John Ojikutu, will speak on the ‘Opportunities of Domestic Air Cargo in Nigeria’ while Ayo Ife-Lewis of Domestic Air Cargo Powerhouse Greater Washington will speak on the ‘Challenges of Domestic Air Cargo in Nigeria.’
Export Integrity and Security will be handled by the CEO of Pathfinders, Mrs. Nkechi Onyeso and National Agency for Food and Drug xxx Control (NAFDAC).
Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Services (NAQS) will be sharing the ‘Role of their agencies in guaranteeing the product integrity of exports from Nigeria’ and the freight forwarders – National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) and APFFLON will be explaining their ‘Roles in the Growth of Air Cargo Business in Nigeria.’
