As the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) Branches elections approach, the association under the leadership of Comrade Francis Bunu Abi has warned all contestants and members of the Union to desist from placing Fliers, Banners, Stickers, Campaign of calumny, or images of any sort at the Quay Apron, Port Terminals, Jetties, Oil & Gas platform, On-Board Vessels and Union Offices nation wide, saying that failure to adhere would attract penalties.

A statement from MWUN signed by its  of Media, Comrade John Ikemefuna, read in part: “In as much as the Union recognises the right of every member to participate or contest the Union’s elective positions, it imperative that contestants and members of the Union as a must abide by the rules of the Union by eschewing campaign of bitterness and to observe discipline, peace and decorum within the folds of the Union.

“Having said that, the Union will not hesitate to deal decisively or sanction any constant(s) or member(s) who flouts this standing order; as the Union will not compromise its peaceful status over whatsoever reason in the guise of elective positions campaign”.
