The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has placed De Ultimate on a no-fly list over the incident on ValueJet flight VK201.
The NCAA has also petitioned the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police to investigate and prosecute the Fuji musician.
The incident, which occurred on August 5, 2025, allegedly disrupted standard operational procedures and raised concerns about passenger behaviour and aviation safety protocols.
According to reports, K1 De Ultimate attempted to board the flight with a flask containing more than the permitted 100ml of liquid, violating aviation security regulations. Despite warnings, he allegedly refused to comply and poured the contents, later confirmed to be alcohol, on a security official. The musician then blocked the plane from taxiing, preventing it from taking off.
The NCAA has emphasised the importance of upholding aviation safety standards and ensuring accountability. In a letter to the Attorney General and Inspector General of Police, the authority called for a comprehensive investigation and possible prosecution under the Nigeria Civil Aviation regulations 2023 and other applicable laws.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, has issued an advisory to Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), recommending that K1 De Ultimate be placed on a no-fly list pending the outcome of the investigation. This move aligns with global aviation standards prioritising passenger, crew, and airline operation safety.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has equally directed the NCAA to place K1 De Ultimate on a no-fly list and warned airlines to comply with the restriction or risk having their operating licenses withdrawn.
The NCAA has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that no individual undermines the integrity of the aviation industry.
