The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has reiterated its standing prohibition of night-time movement on all Lagos inland waterways.

This reminder is directed particularly at fun seekers and fans of the renowned Fuji musician, Alhaji Sule Alao Malaika, who are planning to attend his concert at Ilashe Beach today, Sunday, January 11, 2026. Members of the public are advised that boat operations on Lagos waterways are permitted strictly during daylight hours.

LASWA emphasised that the night travel ban remains in force due to heightened safety risks, including poor visibility and navigational hazards. The restriction applies to both commercial and private boat operators and is intended to safeguard lives and property.

The Authority urges all intending travelers to plan their trips properly, arrive at their destinations early, and refrain from any attempt to travel by water after sunset. Boat operators are reminded to comply fully with approved operating hours, observe all safety regulations, and ensure that every passenger wears a life jacket at all times.

LASWA, in collaboration with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and other safety and security agencies, will intensify patrols and enforcement across the waterways. Defaulters will be sanctioned in accordance with the law.

LASWA remains committed to ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-regulated waterways transportation system for all residents and visitors to Lagos State.
