CGC Adewale Adeniyi, Chairperson WCO

The Network of Nigerian Maritime Journalists (NNMJ) has congratulated the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, on his election as Chairperson of the World Customs Organisation (WCO).

This appointment marks a significant milestone for Nigeria and Customs administrations globally.

Adeniyi becomes the first Nigerian to lead the 73-year-old WCO, which comprises 186 member nations. The NNMJ praised Adeniyi’s visionary leadership, citing the transformative reforms he has implemented in the NCS, which have elevated it to one of the country’s top revenue-generating institutions.

The group lauded Adeniyi’s achievements, quoting former U.S. President John Quincy Adams: “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader”. The NNMJ urged Adeniyi to uphold the WCO’s legacy while championing innovative reforms that will further strengthen global customs practices.

On behalf of all maritime journalists in Nigeria, the NNMJ congratulated CGC Adeniyi for bringing pride and honour to the nation. This historic appointment is a testament to Adeniyi’s exceptional leadership and dedication to public service.
