Stakeholders are set to converge on Wednesday August 27, 2025 for a discourse on ‘War Risk Insurance Burden’ on maritime trade.
Organised by the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) as the 3rd edition of its Maritime Annual Maritime Lecture (MAMAL) on August 27, 2025, the lecture will bring together key players in Nigeria’s maritime and allied sectors to discuss the theme “Addressing the Burden of War Risk Insurance on Nigeria’s Maritime Trade”.
Prominent industry leaders, including the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, the Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, and other major industry regulators, operators, and security stakeholders, are expected to attend the event.
The lecture aims to provide a platform for frank discussions and pragmatic recommendations to ease the huge financial burden imposed by war risk insurance premiums on vessels calling at Nigerian ports.
According to the President of MARAN, Mr. Godfrey Bivbere, the outcome of the lecture will serve as a guide for policymakers and industry players in addressing the issue.
MAMAL has become a key platform for constructive dialogue among stakeholders on pressing issues affecting the growth and sustainability of the maritime sector.
With the caliber of participants and the relevance of the theme, this year’s edition is expected to be impactful and solution-driven.
